NOTE: we are using the free version of carrd. Because of this, we have a limited amount of elements we can se. this means for each page there's one text box. we've tried to style the paragraphs in a way that's easy to read. sorry if it's not.
The Hydra System
Hi, we're the Hydra system. You can call us Hydra, Crossbones, or Commander. We use He/It pronouns. We are a polyfragmented DID system. We'll get into definitions and explanations on another page. We were professionally diagnosed in 2019 and since then have been slowly learning more about... all of this. Us, as a collective, as well as an individual. We decided to make a website in February 2025 for fun, and it's evolved into a web of different sites dedicated to interests. This site is a general system blog, for us to talk about ourselves freely.I want to make it clear- we do not intend to romanticize this disorder. DID is not a roleplay. It's not a game, or an aesthetic. it is a life altering- ha- disorder. The purpose of this page is not to make a game out of DID, rather, it's more of an open journal, a collage of information and just a glimpse of our experience as a system. Because of the nature of DID, we probably won't post anything too personal or graphic involving trauma or abuse, but 1) that doesn't mean we didn't experience it and 2) doesn't mean there won't be mentions of it, broadly, here and there.
With that being said, We welcome you to click around and learn a little bit about us.While we would like for this page to potentially help others learn about DID, do NOT use this as a basis for self diagnosis or a comparison to other systems. we are not medical professionals.

System Questions
Ask us question by clicking here. We'll answer them on this page.System Name? Explain? Our system name is The HYDRA System.
Why HYDRA?
HYDRA is an organization in the Marvel universe. The motto, "cut off one head, and two more grow in it's place", is a testament of resilience and, honestly, a damn good description of DID, especially a polyfragmented system. Growing up we were exposed to the comics, and later, the movies. and drawing parallels to some things that we experienced, once were diagnosed the name felt fitting. prior to being diagnosed we lived holding on to the mantra "Order through Pain". The mentality got us through some shit. still does.
More on thisSystem Type?We are a polyfragmented DID system.Do we have an Inner World?
Yes, we have an Inner World. our inner world is a forest. the main house is in a clearing in a thick birch forest. it's autumn. always sunny. there's some leaves on the trees but a lot litter the ground and the pathways are all foot trails. the appearance is similar to a video game, as in. there's light, but no visible sky really. things seem almost flat, stationary. we have doubts this section is heavily modeled after the woods of Skyrim, which has been a major comfort and form of escapism for us since we were a kid. the woods lead change depending on where you are. not every alter has access to every part of the inner world. there's buildings and landmarks. the main one being a large lake that seems to circle the entire forest. we can enter the lake, but the horizon is foggy, we can't go near it. Like a game with a world barrier. We suspect it's a mental divider, since we have groups of alters that are "not part of the main system" and a majority of us cannot communicate or interact with them.
"What Is...?"
polyfragmented DID
Polyfragmented DID is a complex system structure. It's characterized by splitting easily, complex internal structure (subsystems, groups, etc.), extremely specific parts, and a high number of fragments.
how does it happen?
Polyfragmentation happens when the trauma that was endured was extremely sadistic and a part of every day life before the age of 5.
the terms Fragment, Polyfragmented, were coined by Dr Bennett G. Braun in 1986. In this paper, he identifies a few forms of abuse that resulted in polyfragmentation. One form of abuse, ritualistic abuse, presented with a more complex structure than other forms.
On instagram, user Keepersofthekeys coined the term C-DID, or complex DID, to refer to polyfragmented systems. another user, who's username i couldn't find, coined the term HC-DID, or high complex DID, to refer to systems that experienced RAMCOA (ritualistic abuse, Mind Control, and/or Organized Abuse).
we are an HC-DID system.what's an inner world?
an inner world is, simply put, an internal world. it's a mental space where alters can interact, communicate. the inner world can represent a safe space for alters- one created when dissociation became the main coping mechanism for survival during childhood abuse- or it can represent locations in which the person was abused, or both. For us, it's a mix of both.
